KEY TIPS ON HYDRATION

Following its mission of promoting the importance of good hydration behaviours and providing information to help develop greater awareness and understanding of hydration matters, the EHI is pleased to announce the development of a series of educational materials entitled "Key tips on hydration". These have been created to provide healthcare professionals with relevant information about healthy hydration, including hydration needs and hydration hints which can be shared with patients.

The educational materials focus on different topics, related to healthy hydration, giving tips for various age groups e.g. infants and children, adults and the elderly, as well as hydration advice for certain special conditions such as hot weather, pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding, and during periods of physical activity.

New educational materials will be released each month throughout 2011.

In this new issue we present some of the methods used to measure hydration status and focus on those that are simple easy to perform and reliable ways for healthy adults to evaluate hydration status during daily activities.
